With so many people remote working, desk sharing, or dialling in from their home offices, the traditional work shirt has become somewhat irrelevant. Tailoring too, has become more relaxed, negating the need for stiff white shirts. Instead, today's work shirt is an amalgam of smart and casual, able to be worn tucked in with tailoring or worn loose on its own or with a casual jacket or knit. Here are four styles that perfectly balance comfort with formality.
Brook Shirt Abbingdon Fawn
The Brook shirt is our classic button-down style. This particular style is perfect for casual fits thanks to the organic soft brushed cotton blend, wide front placket and subtle contrasting gusset. The soft collar construction has a preppy air and looks great peeking out of one of our woollen crew-necks. Given the neutral tone, it works really well with other similar hues such as brown, cream, beige and earthy greens.
New York Special Shirt Winton Navy
One of our most popular shirt styles, the New York Special is a modern classic. This iteration has been cut from organic poplin with a subtle channelled weave. It'll stand up as your perfect weekend shirt, while also being more than smart enough to wear for face-to-face meetings during the week.
Bib Grandad Shirt Forte Ecru
Taking inspiration from the most formal of formal shirts, we've applied a bib section to the front of our iconic Grandad shirt. While it references the classic dress shirt, it has none of the formality, meaning you can wear it in a relaxed way with casual tailoring or simply on its own or as an overshirt.
Grandad Shirt Waltham Multi
The Grandad collar comes from humble origins, but has cemented itself in the pantheon of modern menswear. We've taken the workwear classic and updated it with this mid-weight Oxford cotton fabric, ideal for wearing on its own or beneath one of our autumnal knits. The Multi stripe also works really well with charcoal tailoring, while the orange stripe makes pairing it with earthy tones such as tobacco really effective too.
