For Spring ‘22, much of the collection was inspired by this idea of the ecocentric modern man, a free-spirited, environmentally-led creative whose wardrobe reflects his eclectic cultural and creative interests. What my team and I have created for this season is a modern work wardrobe where sportswear and lifestyle crossover. Ultimately it is what we are all chasing and we are helping to provide a point of view as to what a creative would wear to work. It’s the movement and flexibility that sportswear allows, but the modern and refined sensibilities of what Oliver Spencer is known for, the result of which is a distilled aesthetic of the two.

The season then is a continuation of the looser silhouettes of previous collections, reinforcing the desire for comfort combined with the flexibility to be worn in a multitude of social situations. Tailoring, for example, becomes an intrinsic part of one's casual wardrobe, shaking off the shackles of stuffy uniform to instead make up a versatile element that glues loungewear, workwear, casualwear and sportswear together. Hence, it's why we've also placed an emphasis on easy-to-style blousons such as our Skye bomber jackets and our much-loved cowboy jackets, both of which form a sort of conduit between tailoring and everyday casualwear.

Our dedication to sustainability continues to grow with the collection now at approximately 85% sustainable fabrics, using an array of organic cottons, linen-blends and ecological fibres. Spring is the opportune moment to embrace colour, pattern and lighter textures. Woven and geometric textiles evoke a free-spirited nature akin to a refined hippie. The waffle fabric is a particular favourite of mine, as is the fine terry cord we've used throughout shirting, both reinforcing just how important texture is in a modern wardrobe.
Seersucker remains prevalent in this collection, providing a more refined and tactile aesthetic, while the aforementioned terry cord and waffle sets allow us to champion textured jersey. Light outerwear can also be seen in new shapes for spring, with the water-repellent Porthcurno parka and Ilfracombe four pocket Harrington allowing adaptability. In this era of change, it's important that our wardrobes stay versatile to keep step with the shifting times.
