It all starts with fabric. Every item for a collection begins life as a question about fabric, the first being the most important: is it sustainable? For Spring 22, we're inching ever closer to our goal of delivering a 100% organic/ecological collection (we're presently at 85%). Certain cloths are simply not yet available in organic varieties but we envisage that changing very soon as the demand on mills for high quality organic fabrics increases year after year. That's good for everyone involved, from the farmers right the way through to the consumers. The more that you the consumer demand sustainable, organic fabrics, the better.
This season, we have continued our focus on organic cotton and linen in a big way, creating some brilliant and unique cloths throughout the collection. Here's a quick run down of some of our favourites and their individual characteristics...
Jersey
The vast majority of the cotton we've used this season in our jersey garments is 100% organic. One of our favourites is the Lulworth cloth which is a ribbed terry cord with amazing textural and tactile properties. Elsewhere, look out for our Harris, Pentire, and Morval fabrics in the jersey range. A new edition to tees is our Heavy White T-shirt, designed to be an organic staple. Constructed from, you guessed it, a heavyweight organic cotton cloth, it can be worn with tailoring or casualwear. The weight gives it a smarter, more refined finish than your average white tee.

Linen
As a summer fabric, linen is perfect since it's lightweight, breathable, and has beautiful textural qualities. Naturally then it makes for a great fabric for trousers and shirts which we have multiple iterations of, but we've also incorporated it into our seasonal knitwear, too. One example is our Mylor fabric which we have used to create our iconic Cowboy jacket and Solms suit.

Organic seersucker
Could there be a better summer fabric than organic Seersucker?! We absolutely love it at Oliver Spencer because it has everything - lightweight, texture, tactility and coolness. Those little dents in the cloth allow air to circulate, acting as your own personal air con unit. Look out for it in our Pool Blue, Phaidon and Hayle products.

Organic Staples
We recently launched our Organic Staples collection here, which entirely consists of 100% organic cotton pieces. Designed for the everyday, it consists of those classic silhouettes you just can't do without, and includes an array of trousers, tees, shirts and of course the Solms blazer. The Ellbridge fabric is a new 100% organic cotton cloth that we've introduced this season and it's super versatile and so easy to mix and match with whatever you already have in your wardrobe.
