Zipping Into Autumn: The Harrison Jacket

Zipping Into Autumn: The Harrison Jacket

Autumn often calls for comfortable lightweight layers to accommodate for the changeable weather that we experience in the UK. One of our favourite items that fits this bill is the classic cotton blouson, a garment that was probably made most famous by Baracuta's iconic G9 jacket as worn by the likes of Steve McQueen and James Dean. That version was unmistakeable thanks to its double-popper storm collar and tartan lining, and it catalysed a whole host of new blouson styles that are still as relevant as ever.

This season, we've created our own blouson in the form of our Harrison jacket. Unlike the G9, which was designed as a piece of outerwear, our Harrison jacket has been crafted from organic cotton jersey so that it feels like a luxurious piece of loungewear. A blouson is defined as a loose-fitting, waist-length jacket characterised by a gathered or elasticated hem and cuffs, creating a slightly puffed or "bloused" silhouette at the waist (all bomber jackets are blousons but not all blousons are bomber jackets). The Harrison has a clean silhouette and a zip-through front - when worn up if feels like a luxurious track top, and when worn open takes on a minimalist cardigan aspect, only with a much sportier aesthetic.

We've embellished the two colourways - navy and brown - with stitching details on the front and rear to further create a sense of a sports-inspired garment. Hence it's a great piece to add in to your loungewear and relaxed off-duty looks, but it can also be used as a layering piece under smart-casual ensembles.
