Oliver Spencer x Mr Porter: Occasions

Summer is the season of outdoor events, which often require a more elevated wardrobe than a polo shirt and shorts. When it comes to weddings, special occasions, and smart gatherings with friends, the relaxed summer suit really comes into its own. That's why we're really excited to announce a new exclusive capsule collection with Mr Porter for Spring/Summer 2023, showcasing our relaxed tailoring aesthetic. 

Designed with those aforementioned summer occasions in mind, the capsule features new iterations of Oli's tailoring vision that offers contemporary comfort and sleek silhouettes in an array of innovative and sustainable lightweight fabrics, such as Tencel, organic cotton, and linen. Rather than be defined as 'formal', this tailoring capsule is very much designed with the Italian concept of 'sprezzatura' in mind, with pieces that can be worn as laid-back separates or suits.

“When we released the first wedding capsule for Mr Porter in 2021, we were really overwhelmed by the positive response. We tried to address the perennial problem of dressing for smart summer occasions such as weddings, in a way that wasn’t stuffy or restricted, and which had more of a European feel about it. So the silhouette had to be relaxed and comfortable, which is why we made the jackets unstructured, resulting in a really natural drape with soft shoulders. With a variety of cotton and linen fabrics to choose from again this season, as well as two Tencel suits, we think this tailoring capsule is one of the best we’ve ever created.” – Oliver Spencer

This capsule reflects a shift to a more relaxed contemporary tailoring style, with a lightweight, unstructured silhouette for those who prefer a more Italian bias to their tailoring. The use of organic cotton and linen fabrics across a number of key pieces accentuate the sustainability of the capsule, as well as the introduction for the first time of Tencel, a sustainable fabric made from wood pulp cellulose.

Trouser styles are relaxed for a slightly roomier silhouette, while the colour palette of the capsule sees pastel tones of cream, stone and blue, punctuated with tobacco hues and navy, making it extremely versatile and simple to assimilate into a modern, elegant wardrobe.
