The smartest pair of the bunch, our flat-fronted fishtail trousers are the most natural complement to our tailoring if you're looking for a classic silhouette. The fishtail moniker comes from the band detail at the rear of the trousers (featuring a small notch for comfort), which references classic tailored trousers of the days when men would routinely wear braces. Our fishtails are a modern approach to smart trousers, cut with a more fitted silhouette than any of our other styles. The gradual yet subtle taper creates a svelte shape all the way down from the hips to the ankle, but if you want a slimmer shape then simply iron in a front crease. Most noticeable with the fishtail trousers is the front ticket pocket detail, which features a flap closure with a button, making them uniquely Oliver Spencer. They're a great trouser style to wear with any of our blazers and jackets. If your wardrobe veers to a slightly smarter aesthetic, then the fishtails have your name on them.
The Pleated Trouser

This season at Oliver Spencer, we have two trousers with single pleats; the aforementioned Orsman, as well as our belted trousers. Pleats serve a dual function: on the one hand they provide a nice aesthetic detail, while from a functional aspect they help to create a neater silhouette around the hips, which is especially useful when the trouser shape is loose and roomy, as with our Orsman trousers. The belted trousers, which feature a gradual taper and as the name suggests, come with a configured belt fastening, traversing the smart-casual spectrum with ease. We've used diverse fabrics too, from a textural indigo-dyed needlecord to a wool and cashmere micro-check style.
