If you could walk into a vintage menswear store 30 years into the future, what would you hope to see? That was the thought experiment that catalysed the direction for the Oliver Spencer Winter 23 collection. Coming from a modernist sense of creation which draws particular attention to the process and materials used, Oli looked to explore the meaning of timelessness and longevity in modern menswear, carefully constructing garments in a meticulous and responsible way.

The collection is replete with the classic menswear silhouettes that we all love, from the blousons and outerwear shapes to the relaxed unstructured tailoring. The focus is not on embellishments, but on textiles and production; on those fine details that extend the life cycle of a garment. Its longevity relies on two pillars - style and quality - and one cannot persist without the other.

Hence, this collection sees much of the wool outerwear pieces made right here in the UK where the quality control is at its most rigorous. Rich thick cotton velvet has been used in an array of blouson and jacket styles, alongside beautifully textural cotton corduroy throughout the collection’s tailored elements. Heavyweight dry wax cotton canvas combines with fleece lining to create incredibly warm and hardwearing outerwear silhouettes, while a mohair-infused yarn brings a uniquely tactile addition to the offering.

In knitwear, chunky rib knits and heritage patterns riff on the timeless classics that have been an essential part of menswear for centuries, complemented by an incredibly soft jersey collection in which a number of reversible garments have been incorporated to bring more utility. Sweatshirts and hoodies have been constructed in heavyweight cotton jersey to further emphasise this notion of longevity. The shirt collection doubles down on comfort and quality, incorporating soft brushed cotton twill that only gets better with age.
