In The Studio: April Edition

In The Studio: April Edition

We're in proper mercurial spring weather mode in the UK right now, as some genuinely warm rays of occasional sun are buffered by bloody cold winds and April showers. C'est la vie! Still, with the hint of brighter times ahead, we're bringing you some uplifting new season kit from Oliver Spencer Studio. We've recently taken stock of some fresh Porter Yoshida bags with plenty of modern urban style details; a new peach colourway in Mizuno's iconic Wave Rider (on which more below); two new styles of Keen's outdoor Rocks shoes; and three heritage-inspired Moonstar plimsolls, perfect for your relaxed summer fits.

As well as all that, we've got a host of new styles from our ongoing Solovair collaboration, plus the spring/summer collection of socks by Japanese maker RoToTo. Look out for a new batch of Niwaki gardening tools, as well as sublime Craig Hill and Bodha products in the coming weeks.

Here's Rhys Briaris, our Studio Manager with the low-down:

“With the arrival of Spring Summer (eventually), The Studio has plenty of new product arriving in store. From Solovair footwear perfect to pair up with tailoring for occasions to Porter Yoshida luggage for family weekends away, we've curated a selection of product that meets your seasonal needs. There are also exciting collaborations with Bona Varda Books and Maya Njie Perfumes in the coming weeks to pencil into your Spring Summer diaries.”

Dressing from the Ground Up: Tailoring Focus

With summer weddings coming thick and fast, it's probably time you started to think about your tailoring options. Relaxed weddings or smart summer events cry out for a cotton or linen suit, of which we have a number of beautiful unstructured styles that are right on the money. We asked Ethan from our Lambs Conduit Street store to style them with his favourite Solovair shoes to give you all the inspiration you need for slick summer dressing. Catch all of his looks right here.

Hot To Shop: Ro To To

Ro To To's socks are produced in specialist factories in Nara Prefecture and Goryocho which both have more than 100 years history in sock manufacturing. They use many different types of sock knitting machines depending on the sock they've designed, from old-fashioned machines that are impossible to computerize to state-of-the-art technologies.

The Evolution of the Mizuno Wave Rider

Our Studio store manager Rhys will soon be lacing up his trainers for the 26.2 miles of tarmac that is the London marathon so we caught up with him to find out what's motivating him, plus we've deep-dived on the history of Mizuno's iconic runner, the Wave Rider. Follow the link below to discover how this shoe ripped up the rule book and became the technology that inspired much of the modern day professional distance running trainers.
