Autumn poses a perennial problem when it comes to men's outerwear, namely that (in England at least), you can experience all four seasons in the space of a day. A heavy-duty coat like a duffle or a pea coat will invariably be too warm, especially if you're having to commute, whereas a lightweight blouson just won't cut it when the heavens decide to release a deluge. The obvious answer would be a raincoat but often these are cumbersome, being constructed in rubberised cotton or a lined waxed cotton. That's why we created our Grandpa coat - old man wisdom, young man style.

Lightweight and easy to wear, our iconic Grandpa coat is the perfect piece of protective outerwear to use throughout the autumn and winter months. The classic mid-length silhouette is cut in an Italian water-repellent performance cloth, making it lightweight for layering over a suit or wearing with a more casual shirt and denim fit at weekends.
This season, we've taken inspiration from the Fall colours of the American Midwest, where nature also takes on the role of muse for the US region's modernist movement. Hence our Grandpa coat is stripped back of design embellishments, offering instead a natural minimalistic simplicity in form and function.
It's available to two colours: a classic navy that will pair with a smarter Monday-Friday wardrobe; plus a more vibrant ochre tone that provides a bit more punch for weekend fits. The weight (or rather lack of it) of the Italian performance cloth makes the Grandpa coat a brilliant choice for commuting on mercurial weather days when you might need to put it on and strip it off as you travel. Plus it folds up extremely small, making it ideal for longer trips when packing space is precious.
