At Oliver Spencer, we understand the importance of a great fitting suit or separates. It doesn’t matter how good the cut or cloth of a jacket or trousers is if they don’t fit correctly. That’s why we take great care to ensure that our trained staff measure you up to guarantee a perfect fit.

The most important considerations to make when purchasing tailoring or trousers are the measurements that can’t be altered. For jackets, it’s near impossible to change the width of the shoulders significantly without completely restructuring the product so it’s important to choose a size that is appropriate.

When it comes to trousers, it’s always easier to take in a waist or take up a hem rather than vice versa (depending on how the trousers are constructed, sometimes it is not possible to let out the waist for example). Our very experienced shop staff will be able to make sure that you choose the correct size.

In most cases, you will only require the jacket sleeves and trouser length altered, both of which are a rudimentary fix for the skilled tailors that we use. We are all very unique in our body shapes and so no two people will ever fit our suiting exactly the same. We also love to see our customers bringing back some of their favourite garments for repair. Extending the lifespan of clothing is a critical part of improving the sustainability of the fashion industry on the whole so we would always advocate repairing your most cherished pieces before bidding them farewell! Whether it’s replacing buttons or repairing a snagged sleeve lining, we can typically fix general wear and tear.
