Double Up: The Reversible Sweat

Double Up: The Reversible Sweat

There are few menswear pieces more versatile than the cotton crew neck sweatshirt, especially in the spring months when you want a warm layer that you can style out in a number of different ways. Originally conceived as an athletic garment, the crew neck rose to widespread prominence in the 60s and 70s America thanks to the industrial capacity of brands like Champion, Hanes, and Russell Athletic. Characterized by its rounded neckline and ribbed cuffs and waistband, it became particularly popular due to its versatility and simplicity, it was embraced by everyone from mums to hippies, punks, skaters, and Steve McQueen, who was often photographed in his light grey style and also wore a navy version in the 1963 classic, The Great Escape.

It's hard to make something as brilliantly simple as the crew neck sweatshirt any better, but we did - by making it reversible. Two for the price of one, you might say. Now, let's be clear, we made them reversible to double up your styling options, not so you could wear one side to death and then flip it to save on the washing!

Woven using a soft and substantial organic cotton jersey fabric, the reversible crew necks come in three unique colourways, and we've also created a reversible half-zip sweatshirt in a rugby-esque navy and burgundy stripe that flips to plain navy. Of the crew necks, the trio of tones include mauve, green, and navy, with the former two flipping to an off-white tone with contrast hem and cuff details, while the latter reverses to a tonal navy.

The perfect preppy layer for winter, the half-zip sweatshirt is woven from a midweight organic cotton blend, and features navy and burgundy stripes, making it an excellent layering piece with blousons, shackets and overshirts.
