In case you missed it: last week we live-streamed our first shoppable catwalk show. With new social media app Vero, you could shop the looks as they made their way down the runway. But don’t worry if you didn’t catch the show live: you can still shop all 29 looks online.
This was a brave new step for Oliver Spencer, especially as a small business, as garments were made for the show and shot for the app only a few hours before show time. Rushing to upload them in time, while surrounded by models backstage, only added to the excitement. This was also a big step for Vero, as this was the first show they have worked with that allowed customers to shop every single look that was shown on the catwalk. You can read more about Oli's vision for the show in his interview with GQ's Nick Carvell here.
The show was also special for us as we had the pleasure of welcoming some of our customers to the audience. Historically catwalk shows have been the reserve of press, buyers, and celebrities – but the real VIPs are our customers. We wanted to thank those who have supported us over the years for their loyalty, so invited them to join us for this special occasion. Their responses were amazing to receive, here are just a few from the day:
“The event was a pleasure to attend, fabulous clothes, funky rhythms and friendly faces.” - Robert J Railton, artist
“Oliver Spencer, for me, is the most exciting menswear collections. The use of tweeds, wool, colour & design is truly wearable.” - Andrew McKirdy
"Great idea to give access to some non-industry punters like myself to the catwalk. Apart from the enjoying the buzz of the occasion it was so helpful to actually see how a collection fits together – my usual experience is to see the separate pieces on the rail." - Neil Tookey
"A great piece of work from all involved" - John
"Truly enjoyed it, we also loved the buy it now app too great way to interact, also loved the quickness of the pictures being sent out from the show." - Luke Clements
After the show, our friends at Liberty hosted a party: with music from DJs Trevor Nelson and Nihal and drinks by Remy Martin, Frontier Lager, and Menabrea.
