Oliver Spencer in Toronto: Where to Eat

This month Oli is making a special trip across the ocean to visit our Toronto store. We wanted to know more about the local area so we asked store manager Jon to give us his tips for Queen West.

Located on the Ossington strip, OMAW boasts an open galley kitchen – giving the bistro stools at the bar a great view of chef Matt Blondin at work preparing the menu of Acadian-inspired food. Specialising in Southern cuisine, Blondin’s reputation has been built upon the unlikely dish of grits. This warming bowl is serious comfort food.

For the best Greek food in Toronto, head to Mamakas on Ossington Avenue. With fresh and light Mediterranean flavours of mint and citrus complementing courgette (or zucchini to our friends across the pond) and goat’s cheese. The tzatziki is not to be missed.

Imanishi on Dundas Street West will provide you with your Japanese fix. Choose from a huge range of dishes as well as Teishoku (a Japanese set meal that includes miso soup and a bowl of rice alongside the main dish). With an enviable selection of sake and cocktails, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

From our earliest days, we’ve adopted a business model that incorporates environmental and social responsibility at every step. Each season, we increase the proportion of ecological, organic and recycled fabrics and will continue to do so until they represent the entirety of our collections. We also ring-fence a proportion of our revenue to put towards planting trees with the Woodland Trust.
